Description Job Summary The Library Aide is responsible for the circulation of library materials, assisting patrons with the use of library services, operational duties, and maintaining a welcoming environment.
Examples of Duties Essential Duties - Assist patrons with all aspects of circulation, including interlibrary loans, fine and fee collection, and providing guidance with library technology and equipment.
- Perform library operational duties including cataloging, maintenance and repair of books and materials, weeding, shelving, book displays, meeting room reservations, and cleaning.
- Other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications Minimum Qualifications - High school diploma or GED certificate
- Two years of work experience in customer service
- Computer and internet proficiency
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong, effective communication and interpersonal skills
Supplemental Information Physical Requirements - Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, balance, and stand for long periods and reach above shoulder level
- Ability to manage library carts weighing 100-150 pounds
- Ability to speak, write, and understand English
- Extensive keyboarding
